Why ballet for kids

What ballet gives your child beyond the dance

Posture & strength

Ballet builds core strength, balance, and posture that help in every sport and activity.

Focus & discipline

The structure of class teaches kids to listen, practice, and see their hard work pay off.

Confidence

Shy dancers find their voice, and performing on stage becomes something they're proud of.

Musicality

Kids learn to hear rhythm and phrasing and to move with the music.

Friendships

Dancing with the same classmates each week creates real friendships inside and outside the studio.

A foundation for every style

Ballet technique makes jazz, ballroom, and every other style easier to learn.

Performances

Every ballet dancer gets their moment on stage

Our ballet students perform in main-stage productions of storybook ballets, classical repertoire, and contemporary choreography. New dancers who join now can still perform in the Winter Showcase on December 18–19.

Ballet class FAQs

What age can my child start ballet?

Ballet starts at age 4. Ages 4–6 take Mini Ballet & Jazz in our Monday Teddy Bear Combo class, and ages 7–13 take Junior Ballet on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Does my child need ballet experience?

No. Most new students start with no ballet experience. A $15 trial class lets us see where your child is and place them in the right class.

What should my child wear to ballet?

A black or pink leotard, leggings, and ballet slippers, with hair pulled back securely in a bun and off the face and neck.

How often are ballet classes?

Mini Ballet & Jazz (ages 4–6) meets Mondays from 4:00 to 4:45 PM. Junior Ballet (ages 7–13) meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:15 to 7:15 PM.

When can my child start pointe?

Pointe depends on strength, technique, and readiness rather than age. Pre-Pointe is open to dancers of any age with teacher approval, so dancers start preparing when they're ready.

Can parents watch ballet class?

Yes. Parents are welcome to watch classes.

Is ballet good for shy kids?

Yes. Ballet's clear structure helps shy kids feel safe, and small classes with patient teachers let them build confidence at their own pace.

Are there performance opportunities?

Yes. Ballet students perform in our seasonal showcases, including the Winter Showcase on December 18–19, with storybook ballets, classical repertoire, and contemporary choreography.

How much do ballet classes cost?

Tuition is based on hours per week, starting at $60 a month for one hour. Siblings after the first get 5% off, and your first trial class is $15.
